If you are not already a paid CFBRAA member I want to encourage you to become one.
Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

24 April, 2006

Hey fellows, This morning at about 0800 New Mexico time I recieved a call from Bill Abbott. For those of you that don't know Bill. He graduated the same year as I did. 1960. He now lives in Lubbock, Texas.

The boy is not doing to well. He has a heart and lung decease. The boy is dying. But he is in good spirits. So if you all get a minute stop, and say a good word for him in your prayers. I'm going to try and get over to Lubbock next week or so.

The first time I met Bill was at breakfast. He was introduced as Bill Abbott and Danny Harwell yelled out "Where is Lou Costello" The place busted out. Guess what he was stuck with from that day on. You guessed it, "Bud Abbott"

Just thought I would ask you guys tosay a good word for him. He was one of the good guys. I have his phone number if anyone is interested. Get in touch with me off site.

Norman

Norman, I hope you make it out to see your old buddy. Hopefully he'll be in good spirits and it will be some good times to share. I have been speaking to a guy I was at the ranch with and it almost seemed like yesterday because we kind of picked up were we left off. I hope someday we'll meet each others families and we can sit down and trade stories again.
