If you are not already a paid CFBRAA member I want to encourage you to become one.
Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

Eddie Don Farris-April 20, 2011

Eddie Don Farris, 52, of Amarillo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Coulter Road Baptist Church with Larry Payne, pastor of BSA Hospital and Chris Robeson, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in the Parkview Cemetery in Plainview. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mr. Farris was born on June 25, 1958 in Plainview, Texas to Billy and Pauline Farris. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1976 and later Auctioneer School in 1978. He married Vicky Cox Amerson on June 1, 1985 in Boys Ranch. He had worked at Boys Ranch as a dorm parent and rodeo coach from 1978 to 1985. He also worked for Buckner’s Children’s Home then and maintained a child care license and home daycare for fifteen years, worked at Legends Steakhouse and was most recently general manager at Kwik Kar on western for six years, working closely with his family.

Mr. Farris was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church, where he was Interim Youth Minister several times and Youth Activities Director and sponsor for twelve years. He sponsored many Mexico mission trips and youth ski trips. Eddie greatly influenced the lives of thousands of children and youth during his lifetime.

If you needed a laugh, he was the one to give you one. If you needed a hug he was always there. His children thought he was Superman! His first love was his family and his passion was spending time with family and friends at the lake, water skiing, camping, cooking out, and traveling. He loved to kid around, laugh, and hold hands.

The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forever more. Psalms 1 21:8.

Survivors include two sons, Matthew Amerson and wife Jenifer, and Michael J. Farris, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Jessica Farris of Amarillo; his former wife and companion, Vicky Farris of Amarillo; five sisters, Becky Payne and husband Jimmy of Amarillo, Sandy Melton and husband Johnney of Aransas Pass, Texas, Carolyn Robinson and husband Dana of Amarillo, Diane Brownlee and husband Brandon of Plainview and Donna Whitsitt of Weatherford, Texas; two grandchildren, Colton Amerson and Landon Amerson. He is also survived by his step-mother, Carolyn Farris of Plainview and Grananny Letha Amerson of Amarillo and several cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Eddie was greatly loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

The family would like to thank the nurses at BSA Intensive Care for all their love and support at this most difficult time.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M on Friday and suggests memorials be made to Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 Coulter Road, Amarillo, TX 79109.

I think that is a misprint on the time at BR. I arrived in 1979 and I don't remember seeing him until some years later. He was over in Lutz and eventually moved over to Jefferies as DP. I has some stories of his ways and some things we were able todo while he was DP over in Jefferies.
