Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

Steve Donald Landtroop

Postby Jerry Nicholson » Tue Nov 15, 2011 9:50 am

Steve Donald Landtroop, 48, of Amarillo died Nov. 10, 2011.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

He was born March 7, 1963, in Amarillo to Don and Evelyn Landtroop. He has an older sister, Darby Mozelle, who resides in the Pacific Northwest, and a younger half sister, who was born Donnelle Landtroop and lives in Louisiana.

Mr. Landtroop worked as an electrician, a truck driver and for the city of Amarillo. All his life, those who knew him best spoke often of his kind and generous nature. He was a sweet, tender-hearted and forgiving soul who, in spite of many crushing difficulties, was always quick with a smile and a joke. He was always generous and rarely ever said no to a request for help.

He often would give even when the person asking was better off than him. He was a gift on loan from God and will be sorely missed.

Any ideas of when he was at the ranch? Not much older than I am so I may have known him but the name doesn't ring any bells.

RIP

Ok I knew of him but I was pretty new in 79. Bummer he was so young.

Sorry to see & hear of this. Name rings a bell, but for some reason I'm not remembering him. Was he in a dorm? The BR dates indicate that he probably did not graduate from there...? I should know and remember him seems like, since I was there 74-79!

Hello,

I found this article on your BR forum: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1897.

I am looking to find more information about Steve. To make a long story short, he was (supposedly) my biological father, but left my mother when I was about 1 month old (I am 23 now).

I know next to nothing about BR and would like to know how he did there, if I could get pictures of him from the times he was there, the cause of death and so on.

Would it be possible for you to help me?

Thanks
Jerry Nicholson
