If you are not already a paid CFBRAA member I want to encourage you to become one.
Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

Dear Mr & Mrs Waldrip,

So sorry to inform you that Jimmy went home to be with our Lord this Sunday morning about 1:00. Will let you all know some time on Monday when the funeral will be. Would like the current or a former pastor from BR to do the ceremony. Will visit with the Town Office on Monday to make arrangements.

Thank you for your prayers,

Dean James “Jimmy” Miles, 38, of Canyon died Sunday, July 22, 2012.

Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Mike Wilhelm, chaplain of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Chapel officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Jimmy was born Sept. 27, 1973, in Amarillo to David and Dorthy Nelsen Miles. He graduated from Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in 1992. He loved sports and excelled in football and wrestling. He attended West Texas A&M University, where he had worked on a pre-medical degree in hopes of becoming a pediatrician, when his life was tragically interrupted in 1993.

In spite of his auto accident 19 years ago, which rendered him incapacitated, Jimmy managed to touch the lives of so many more people than one could imagine. He gave his family and friends courage and hope and was a constant reminder of the preciousness of life. Our family rejoices, knowing that with his Christian faith, Jimmy is now enjoying a liberated body and is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated friend, son and brother.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Canyon Healthcare for the wonderful love they expressed to Jimmy throughout the past 17 years.

Survivors include five loving brothers, David Miles and wife Diane of Haslet, Daniel Miles and wife Sue of West Liberty, Iowa, Darrell Miles and wife Regina of Cary, N.C., Donavan Miles of Austin and Dale Miles and wife Ann of Mesquite; two loving sisters, Diane Sharber and husband Jimmy of Amarillo and Darlene Lemmon of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 S.W. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
