If you are not already a paid CFBRAA member I want to encourage you to become one.
Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the family of BR employee Doyle Graves, who died today. Funeral services are pending. Please remember the Graves family in your prayers today and in the days to come.

Doyle and his wife Claudette began working in the Dining Hall back in 1987. Doyle has been working in the Maintenance Dept for the past 15 years. Claudette passed away in 2008. Doyle is with her now.

Doyle Graves, 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in South Georgia Baptist Church with Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the DAV Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mr. Graves was born Nov. 10, 1931, in Kenlock, Okla. He enlisted in the Navy in 1952. He served aboard the USS Hector AR7 during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956.

Mr. Graves lived in Amarillo, Sherman and Ardmore, Okla. He worked as a cable technician and installed the cable network at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. He was an extraordinary family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was considered by his family to be the best baby holder in the world. He also was considered to be the best father his seven children could have ever had.

Survivors include a son, James Russell Graves and wife Sally of Austin; six daughters, Mary Miles and husband Dave of Elizabeth, Colo., Janice Boyd and husband Steve of Yukon, Okla., Claudia Graves Roth and husband Dave of Littleton, Colo., Carla Rubino of Canyon and Deborah Graves Wilson and Rebecca Graves Jackson and husband Dickey Don, all of Amarillo; four brothers, Lonnie Graves of Madill, Okla., Dan Graves of Flagstaff, Ariz., Bobby Joe Graves of Dewey, Ariz., and Lee Graves of Virden, N.M.; three sisters, Waynette Stout and Audeen Huffman, both
of Madill, and Muriel Haugland of Dennison; 17
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
