If you are not already a paid CFBRAA member I want to encourage you to become one.
Our association is doing good things and helping out many with special needs and scholarships.
We aren't doing as much as we would like to do and not as much as one would expect, especially if you or someone you are close to are in need of financial help.
We are limited by the funds we have available, so what we can do is modest compared to the needs.

Here is what we were able to accomplish this year with less than 300 paid members:
1. Helped 15 families in crisis situations, providing medical help, housing, utilities, clothing, etc. You provided nearly $11K in crisis support to families.
2. Helped 9 alumni families send their children to college, providing $6K in scholarship assistance.
3. Helped scores of new alumni with transportation, providing $4K for vehicle maintenance and fuel for the Alumni Support Center.
4. Provided $500 to the residents of the Alumni Support Center to help with Christmas presents for their families.
5. Provided $500 to the homes at BR as awards for the Christmas Contest winners.

Prayer requests for our friends and family and information about those who are ill or injured. There has been enough activity in this area lately that I felt there should have a separate forum.

June Spivey, Mary Schroeder 4-29-09

From: "Frances Waldrip"

Today 4/29/09 June Spivey was scheduled to have surgery to remove a liaison from her bladder. As most BR friends know June has bladder cancer - and has for 2 years now. When she went in for her pre op tests they reported an irregular heart beat/EKG. They scheduled a stress test which we did today and will have the results hopefully by Friday. Don't know what the next step will be with her. As most of you know she was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's in December 2008. That is the report for June.

While we were at BSA Susan Schroeder was trying to find me - Mary Schroeder was taken to the hospital last night. She has an irregular heart beat and the dr. had been treating her for the last six years. Mary and the dr. felt the medicine was not doing any good so about 10 months ago the dr. stopped the medication. Last night she "crashed" and at the present time is in BSA CCU but will be moved to a room on the 5th floor as soon as one comes available. Susan has started a new job recently and has to work tomorrow, Candy was here for today and tonight but will have to go home Thursday. I spoke with Mary on the phone and she is in relatively good spirits. Susan is asking that any Boys Ranch friends who can stop by to see Mary. Susan said she just didn't want her mom to be there all alone. The dr. says she will be in the hospital until probably Monday.

The Sharp's are all doing fine and hope each of you are as well.
